Windsurfing Development Program

This program is back for the 2024 season - with both youth and adult options!

This special program is made for those who want to be immersed in the sport of windsurfing and have their skills grow and improve so that they can pursue windfoiling for fun or competitively. There are two cohort options - youth (13 to 24) and adult (25+).

This 5 day program takes place at Windsure Adventure Watersports at the Jericho Sailing Center and will focus on developing participants' abilities in a fun group environment. Instruction will be geared towards taking students from intermediate watersports practitioners to having the skills and knowledge to approach foiling safely. If you are passionate about windsurfing, would like to stretch your skills, and have a driven mindset when it comes to training and (maybe even competing), this is the program for you!

The Windsurfing Development Program runs with a maximum of 5 participants per program session. The enrolment fee of $400 includes instruction and use of all the equipment you will need. Full program scholarships are available (see below).

Skill prerequisites include:

  • For Dinghy Sailors: CanSail II, III ~ 1 year of racing experience

  • For windsurfers/wingers/kiters: comfortably tack/gybe, sail upwind/downwind preferably in the harness

  • All: must have willingness to learn racing rules of sailing

Strongly recommended pre-work courses include:

  • -Discover Windsurfing 1-3 OR Discover Wing Surfing + Discover Wing Foiling OR Private Lessons OR Windsurfing Youth Camp + Advanced Windsurfing Youth Camp

  • JSCA Rookie Racing Seminar OR How to Race (Windsure Clinic)

Please be sure to have participated in these programs or have equivalent experience before registering.

Adult Program Dates:

  1. July 8-12 daily from 1:30pm to 4:30pm

  2. A weekly option of Sundays in June (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th) from 1pm-4pm

Youth Program Dates:

  1. June 24-28 daily from 1:30pm to 4:30pm

  2. Jul 29 - Aug 2 daily from 1:30pm to 4:30pm

  3. Aug 12-16 daily from 1:30pm to 4:30pm

  4. Aug 26-30 daily from 1:30pm to 4:30pm
